MY 10 MINUTE MORNING BEAUTY ROUTINE
I struggle with leaving my house in the morning as it is. Aside from the fact that I enjoy lounging in my pyjamas for an obscene amount of time, I find that my productivity is inversely proportionate to the amount of time I spend faffing around in the morning. In addition to streamlining my morning outfit choices, I like to keep my daily make up routine as minimal as possible. Here's how I go from a puffy sleepyhead to serving some serious face in 10 minutes.
Step 1: Base Time: 2-3 minutes
For my base, I start with foundation - my all time favourite is Lancome Teint Miracle foundation, but I'm currently flirting with Tom Ford's Traceless Perfecting Foundation. If I've been burning the midnight oil and, consequently, look like a racoon I'll pop some concealer under my eyes. I like to use a MAC 187 brush to blend it all in - it's small enough to get under my eyes and around my nose and gives my base a sheer, glowy finish.
Step 2: Eyes Time: 3-4 minutes
I start with my eyebrows, opting for an easy pencil with built in brush which is dark enough for my brows to have clout but a soft enough formula to make sure I don't end up with Nike tick for eyebrows. I haven't got the patience to spend time forever blending and blending so I go for easy, complimentary colours. Pinks and warm browns are in my current rotation at the moment. I've been using MAC's cranberry on the lid (for a bit of daytime sparkle) and a combo of Swiss Chocolate and Haux in the crease. Add a couple of layers of mascara and we're done!
Step 3: Cheeks Time: 2 minutes
Blush and highlight, that is all my friends. I've been a die hard fan of MAC's format blush for every day because it gives a subtle wash of colour and sculpts my cheeks a little bit, plus it has minimal shimmer. I'm also obsessed with MAC's Golden Glow highlighter as it gives me the most perfect mid-tone golden glow. I like to apply my highlighter with my fingers as I feel this gives me greater control over the placement and depth of my highlighter.
Step 4: Lips Time: 1 minute
If I'm going to be really honest, most days I leave with a little bit of libpalm - Nivea to be precise. But if I'm feeling extra fancy I'll line my lips with a brown liner and go for a quick swipe of Nars' lipgloss in.... or NYX liquid lipstick in...
And I'm out the door.
What does your everyday make-up routine look like? Does it take you longer than 10 minutes?
